Oh to be a child again...

I just read this post over on AvCanada... reminded me of the reason I got into flying in the first place. I remember the first time I took the controls of a plane and how much my cheeks hurt from the grin on my face. It really wasn't that long ago, but I have a hard time imagining my life without a place in it for flying.

Yeah, awful pic, but it has good memories attached...!

Patience

I was just going through some old poetry I'd written a couple of years ago and found one I thought I'd share. Perhaps I'll share some more in the future? We'll see. This is entitled "Patience". Make of it what you will.

Patience -- Gord Spence

When will it be?

This room smells like new carpet

The walls are freshly painted, but already worn

Red, white, chipped drywall

We wait

The garbage can shines with irony

Denying its nature in the bright fluorescent light

People stand

Lingering

Conversing aimlessly

Quietly drifting in and out

Why isn’t she here yet?

Stomach knots

Pulse races

Patience runs thin

Would eat

But I can’t

Would walk

But I can’t

I want this to be over now.

Best picture all week

I don't know if you've ever heard that cats can be somewhat territorial. There is a story here about a little tabby named Jack. He met a bear. He didn't like the bear being on his property. So he chased him up a tree! Want proof? Voila:

Jack don't take crap from nobody.

Mountains!

I forgot that you could see the mountains from Calgary until about the second or third day we were there, and I saw them off in the distance. Before we left yesterday, I made sure to grab a couple of shots while we were at the airport!

A free... uh... cookie, to the first person to correctly name the three aircraft types in those pictures!!

A beautiful city. It was a pleasure to visit it for a week, but I don't think I'd want to live there long-term. Especially since the rent is actually higher on average than in Rome! How's that for crazy!?
